The National Primary Care Summit

Following the success of last year’s gathering, the National Primary Care Summit returns for 2026 with a clear focus on delivering Right Care, in the Right Place, at the Right Time — ensuring accessible, high‑quality primary care for a modern Ireland. With the Government preparing to publish a new National Primary Care Strategy, this year’s Summit looks ahead to the next phase of reform. Significant investment in primary care infrastructure, rapid advances in digital health, and the emergence of AI‑enabled tools and social platforms are reshaping how care is delivered. The 2026 Summit will explore how these developments can be harnessed to strengthen access, integration, prevention and patient experience.

Throughout the day, we will examine how best to expand resources and optimise general practice, primary, community and shared‑care models to deliver Sláintecare for a rapidly growing and ageing population. Discussions will focus on workforce, modernised care pathways, digital enablement, and new models of community‑based care.

Once again, the Summit brings together medical, nursing and allied health professionals, alongside public and private service providers, policymakers, insurers, regulators, technology partners, diagnostic innovators, researchers and thought leaders. Together, we will showcase successful service design and delivery, highlight emerging solutions, and help shape the future of primary care in Ireland.
