Dr. David Niland

Dr. David Niland is a physician informaticist with over fifteen years experience in developing Electronic Health Records in Ireland. In 2013, while working predominantly in Emergency Medicine he completed a Masters in IT. He has implemented three generations of MEDITECH software and was, in 2014, part of the team that brought the first hospital in the UK and Ireland to Stage 6 on the HIMSS EMR adoption model. He has day-to-day experience of electronic prescribing, order sets, remote access to the EHR, voice transcription, documentation templates, consultant engagement and clinical decision support on the Expanse platform. As part of the MEDITECH clinical liaison team he will be happy to talk about real life EHR experience in Ireland. David is bilingual - speaking IT and clinical care with doctors.
